Inter Titles and Connotations ~ by Alice Nutter

This is stereotypical convention of a trailer to have the directors names in it and we wanted to make our trailer as realistic as possible.

We chose the colour of our font to be red and white, this fit not only with the theme of thriller and the scary air it has about it, but also it homes in the Christmas theme. Though Christmas is seen as an innocent holiday it can easily be turned on its head to be made into the complete opposite. We chose to make the words "you" and "naughty" in our inter title to be red as it connotes that the audience watching it is in danger, therefore having the connotative effect of tension, adrenaline and suspense as well as a sense of paranoia and danger, which is what we want to inflict upon our audience considering our trailer is a psychological thriller. Leaving the audience questioning themselves, what is meant by the direct address of you. Then naughty is also coloured red as that's the colour you associate with being naughty connoting anger and danger.


Then we have the title of our film following the same theme as the other titles or captions as the word "naughty" is red. Also this is a stereotypical convention in a film trailer too and like with the directors name we wanted the trailer to be as realistic as possible.

Finally we have our release date. We chose our font to be a sans serif font as we wanted to connote how sinister our film trailer would be. Though our film trailer is not completely serious in its theme. Considering it does contain a Santa Clause as the main antagonist and our trailer is centered around the festive holiday of Christmas. This is why we ultimately chose to make our release date 'Christmas 2018' because then it will attract a a mass audience as everyone being in the spirit of Christmas and wanting a Christmas movie to watch. We were also cautious to make the date in 2018 because it would be unrealistic to have this year as that doesn't allow time for the audience to anticipate its release as well as creating an excitement and hype surrounding it, which will ultimatum draw the audience in to watch it.
